Position Objective

The main responsibilities of this position are to direct and oversee the organization's tax policies and objectives and minimize the organization's tax obligations. This includes ensuring compliance with applicable tax statutes.

Essential Job Functions

  • Prepare consolidated federal and state income tax returns along with the required analysis for inter-company transaction eliminations
  • Prepare consolidated federal and state income tax provisions along with the required analysis for inter-company transaction eliminations
  • Work with federal, state and local income tax auditors and provide necessary documentation in a timely manner·        
  • Identify, research, and analyze tax issues and planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities. 
  • Create functional strategies and specific objectives for corporate income tax reporting, compliance and planning.
  • Develop budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.
  • Ensure that the tax function, in conjunction with accounting, is compliant with the requirements and procedures established under “JSOX’. This includes maintaining tax internal controls by recommending and documenting tax policies and procedures.
  • Monitor all reporting and planning to ensure accuracy of corporate income tax and consolidated income tax returns.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills.
  • Highly proficient with SAP, Taxware, Vertex and Microsoft products.
  • Well versed on JSOX compliance
  • Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.
  • Relies on experience, judgment and strong organizational skills to plan and accomplish goals in a multi-company environment.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with tact, diplomacy and discretion.
  • Great organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to work closely with internal & external customers, including auditors.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to influence others to achieve results.
  • Solid experience with online tax research tools such as CCH or RIA
  • Maintain tax technical skills by keeping current with new tax laws and proposed tax legislation, attending tax and related seminars, reviewing professional publications, participating in professional societies, and establishing personal networks.

Experience, Educational Reqts and Certifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field
  • 5-8 years of progressive tax experience within a large corporation.
  • 5 years’ experience of Public Tax Accounting, including Federal and State Corporate Income Tax.
