Position Objective

The Industrial Print Technical Specialist reports to the Director of Industrial Print Solutions of Business Intelligence Solutions Division with the purpose of providing technical leadership in both pre and post sale installation and service environments for Industrial Print Solutions. Critical to this role is the ability to act as both a technical expert and relationship manager during the installation period.  The Industrial Print Technical Specialist will interact with sales, logistics, supply chain and Industrial Print solution analyst resources within KMI and MGI.

Essential Job Functions

Within the Pre-sales environment, this person will:

  • Assist sales staff with technical presentations and answer technical sales questions.
  • Analyze customer needs and translate them into deliverable solutions, both hardware and software.
  • Demonstrate and enhance proposed solutions within targeted specialization and plan for implementation
  • Provide Dealer and Direct Industrial Print sales teams with proper statement of work creation and site survey preparation
  • Identify areas of concern and outline process of workflow changes along with implementation plans, both software and hardware
  • Work with Industrial Print Sales staff to smoothly transition proposed solutions to deliverable projects


Within the Post-sales environment, this person will:

  • Assist local service, Dealer or Direct, with installation preparation and actual installation of IP equipment
  • Assist with onsite training of both Dealer and Direct service staffs, along with assessing the effectiveness of these staffs to handle service and installation of IP equipment offerings.
  • Offer recommendations to both dealer and direct service staffs on organizational needs, staffing and technical improvements.
  • Act as the Technical relationship manager for both service and non service related technical discussions
  • Act as second tier service support for both Direct and Dealer service staffs
  • Prepare and submit escalation and visitation paperwork to handle all technical questions and issues to both MGI and KMI.
  • Prepare and submit technical documents to the IP Knowledge base.
  • Be the technical liaison between KMI, MGI France, MGI USA and the field service staffs, both dealer and direct.
  • Help develop new opportunities and volumes within the account for other Industrial Print opportunities
  • Help customers with application and technical issues that may occur.
Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
  • Detailed knowledge in reading wiring diagrams, repair manuals related to digital press equipment
  • Strong analytical and expert problem solving and project management skills.
  • Candidate must have proven ability to work with software technology partners at the business development and implementation level
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and communicate technical data
  • Have a strong drive and exhibit themselves as a results oriented individual with experience leading complex service and/or implementations within the Industrial Print arena
  • This individual also must demonstrate strong professional maturity as well as strong cross-group collaboration and strategic thinking skills.
  • Strong technical acumen and passion for learning new technologies.
  • Self-starter who can manage ambiguity, chart a clear course and make tough decisions, and respond quickly to multiple issues.
  • Ability to execute strategic thinking, customer orientation, open & effective communication
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work independently, without direct supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written Communications Skills
Experience, Educational Reqts and Certifications
  • Individual will have 10+ years experience in the Production Print industry including offset and digital
  • Individual will have at least 2+ years experience in the Industrial print industry or an adjacent area
  • Extensive service technical support knowledge (3 year minimum)
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience. 
  • A+, N+, CDIA, MCP, MCSE certifications desired
