Position Objective

The objective of this position is to provide operational support to the enterprise-wide network infrastructure.  This is achieved by designing, implementing and supporting various local area network (LAN) and wide area networking (WAN) technologies within a large and diverse enterprise network environment.

Essential Job Functions

Design, configure, install, monitor and support various networking hardware and software solutions that support business applications.  Monitor the network environment and alerts to maintain high availability and system performance.  Lead the planning, configuration and installation of various network infrastructure technologies including switching, routing, firewalling and VPN.  Evaluate new technologies, compile comparative data, and make recommendations to management for improved systems performance and availability.  Troubleshoot and resolve highly technical problems in a complex network environment.  Respond to after-hours reports of major problems as required.

Assist in the continuous design, configuration and implementation of enterprise network security systems, policies and mechanisms.  Assist in the definition and implementation of security policies and procedures.  Ensure corporate data security and integrity.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

Minimum of 8 years of hands on experience configuring, installing and troubleshooting all aspects of local area and wide area network technologies in a large enterprise networking environment.  Proficiency skill should include:

•    Cisco ASA - Firewall and VPN

•    Advanced Cisco ASA skills required, team SME

•    Configure ASAs for VPNs, site-to-site and Client

•    Work with branch personnel to implement and test VPNs

•    Configure ASAs for firewalling

•    Troubleshooting

•    Cisco route & switching

•    Advanced Cisco route & switching skills required, team SME

•    LAN / WAN, QOS, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP

•    Develop standard configuration templates

•    Performance troubleshooting and tuning

•    Cisco Wireless, Nexus, Prime Infrastructure, Cisco ISE (TACACS, RADIUS, AAA)

•    Checkpoint, Fortinet, Palo Alto Firewalls

•    Wireshark / packet capture and decode for troubleshooting•    Network engineer Level 3 skills

•    Expert troubleshooting skills

•    WhatsUp Gold, LogRhythm, Argent

•    Strong written and verbal communication skills to document issues/recommendations, interface with end users

•    Ability to work collaboratively or independently

•    Ability to work Network Services Help Desk tickets with end-users

•    Performance / routing, Wireless

•    Bug and vulnerability vetting and remediation

•    Learn and know KM standards / work within standards

•    SecureAuth / Multi-factor Authentication

•    VoIP converged networking

•    Cloud technologies / AWS, AzureProject work

•    Requirements gathering

•    Strategize on solutions and design

•    Document project plan

•    Configure and remotely coordinate the installation of networking firewalls, VPNs, switches, APs

Experience, Educational Reqts and Certifications

Bachelor’s Degree and 8 or more years working in a collaborative team environment within a large enterprise network environment or 10 or more years related experience
