Position Objective

 

The Interaction Designer position is a highly-skilled and passionate self-starter capable of putting the user experience first. In this role, you will discover what our users need out of our products by conducting research, exploring user behavior, and working with Product Managers, Graphic Designers, and Engineers. You will take complex tasks and transform them into accessible, intuitive, and easy-to-use designs that enhance our products.

Essential Job Functions
  • Define the user experience for new and existing products
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, software engineers, and others.

  • Develop storyboards, mockups, and prototypes that illustrate interaction.

  • Experience conducting interviews, surveys, and usability studies remotely or in-person.

  • Excellent attention to detail, with a commitment to putting the user first.

  • Participate in product discussions, design reviews, and strategic research planning.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
  • Must have effective written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively lead a project team.  Must be able to organize and clearly present a variety of technical information to a variety of audiences (including executive level and non-technical).  Must have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Web Technologies: HTML5, CSS3, SVG, Canvas and WebGL

  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Sketch or other web design tools

  • Experience conveying concepts with wireframes, flow-charts, and mockups.

  • Experience in creating quick and dirty prototypes for web and/or mobile app experiences.

  • Experience in creating graphic representations, on-screen graphic design, and illustration.

  • Experience distilling complex processes into simple and clear user interactions.

Experience, Educational Reqts and Certifications

BA/BS in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Information Science, Computer Science, Experimental Psychology, or equivalent practical experience. Must have at least 4+ years of experience.
